Dutch UBO-register proposal inadequate

On Wednesday the 22nd of May a round-table is organized in the Dutch House of Representatives on the topic of the UBO-register. A register that will hold all ultimate beneficiaries of a company. On behalf of Transparency International Nederland and Open State Foundation Tom Kunzler will plead for a more ambitious Dutch UBO-register. The current register will be made available via the Chamber of Commerce and will only be accessible behind a pay-wall. The register will not be available as open data and you cannot search for names of persons, only companies. This will make the UBO-register an ineffective tool against fighting crime like fraud, money-laundering, corruption and terrorisme.

At the website of the House of Representatives our Dutch position paper and other position papers on this topic can be found.
