Open State urges governments to publish GDPR registers

Due to the GDPR governments and other organizations have to make a register of processing activities. In these registers governments should list how and why they process personal data. Open State Foundation researched the availability and contents of these registers by requesting them with Freedom of Information requests. Only one in five governments actively publish the register, in almost two-thirds the register is incomplete and the registers look completely different with every government. Open State Foundation is proposing a public and standardized processing registers so that citizens know how and why the government is using their personal data.
