Assist the House of Representatives with these two policy challenges

The third edition of Accountability Hack, organised by the House of Representatives and Open State Foundation, will focus on education and healthcare.

Accountability Hack will be organised for the third time on the fourth of October at the House of Representatives. This event welcomes engineers, policymakers, data scientists and journalists to find open data solutions for two policy challenges.

The jury will award the best idea of each challenge with €20.000 for further development of the tool. The purpose of this tool is to help members of the House of Representatives with their tasks concerning these challenges.

The two policy challenges of 2019

Accountability Hack participants will be able to pick one of the two challenges during the event. The first challenge focuses on lump sum payments in the education field. Although school boards enjoy flexibility due to this payment method, it is hard for members of the House of Representatives to track their spending. Accountability Hack participants are invited to create open data tools that could help the members of the House of Representatives with this topic.

The second challenge focuses on pharmaceutical price control. The law on pharmaceutical prices ensures that pharmaceuticals are accessible for everyone. In order to ensure that this will remain so in the future, the law will be amended by adjusting the reference country in the calculation process. Does open data offer members of the House of Representatives more insight?
