The last months Open State Foundation and OpenGeo have raised awareness on the availability of open data on public transport in the Netherlands. The Dutch House of Representatives had a session on public transport on the 20th of September. Four members of parliament asked the state secretary Van Veldhoven questions on the topic. On the 1st of January public transport companies would release data on use of public transport, but this still has not happened. The state secretary promised to give a response on the topic in early 2019 and made it clear that she supported the release of the data as open data by an independent party like the Dutch Statistical Bureau.
