On Friday the 20th of April a kick-off meeting was held in the COMM-Museum in the Hague for the Digging for Data-app challenge. The province of South-Holland challenges developers, designers and programmers to make an app that re-uses their three archaeological datasets. The kick-off was visited by 30 people and presentations were given about the datasets, followed by a brainstorm and pitches to see how the data can be re-used.
The goal of the province of South-Holland is to have an app created that creates a larger audience for the archaeological heritage of South-Holland. App ideas can be submitted as of now via diggingfordata.nl. The deadline for submissions is the 13th of June. The ten best participants will pitch their idea in front a jury on the 22nd of June and they will decide which idea will be rewarded with €20.000 to develop the app.
