Open Culture Data

A good example of a specialized open data network is provided by the successful Open Culture Data network. This network uses the abundance of data available to heritage institutions, museums, archives and libraries in different areas. They connect a growing variety of people in order to create a new, original way to access cultural data.

Applications built on the basis of open cultural data are not just nice for the public; these also increase the number of visitors of cultural institutions and facilitate new forms of tourism. Members of this network were the gold winners of the Apps for the Netherlands competition.

Prominent parties, such as the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum, the National Archive and the Netherlands Institute of Sound and Vision, are amongst the members of this network. Partners of Open Culture Data are Beelden voor de Toekomst and Creative Commons. Read more about them on their Dutch website.
