Together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment and the Province of South Holland, Open State Foundation is organising the second edition of Hacking for Sustainability. In this app competition we’re looking for apps that contribute to a sustainable planet. Deadline for submissions is 21 October 2016.

With Hacking for Sustainability we’re looking at data from Atlas Natuurlijk Kapitaal, Atlas Leefomgeving and the Province South Holland. Apps and other online applications will be judged by a jury.

Data

We have made summary lists of datasets: Atlas Natuurlijk Kapitaal, Atlas Leefomgeving en Provincie Zuid-Holland. You’ll find for example data on air quality, parks, bicycle routes, water ways, energy production. Other relevant data can be found here.

Careless hacking

Hacking for Sustainability aims for carelesshacking. We want to help you as much as possible to enable you to make effective cutting-edge data-driven analyses, visualisations en apps. We know from our own experience how much time it takes to search, clean and enrich open data. That’s why we have set up a small dataplatform, filled with hand-picked datasets and added social features. We also opened a public chatchannel on Gitter in addition to a GitHub repository to share data and extract/transform/load scripts.
