Hackathon Public Broadcasting

hackathon publieke omroep

On November 9, Open State together with the Netherlands Public Broadcasting, STER and the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision organizes a hackathon at the mediapark in Hilversum.

Bringing together stakeholders in the public broadcasting system, developers’ network Hack de Overheid and leaders in new media and technology, during a whole day at least twenty teams will take part in an open competition developing applications and tools that add service to various programs of the Dutch Public Broadcasting.

During workshops on perfect platforms, relevant advertising and datajournalism, existing models and efforts that might guide public broadcasting’s entry into open data and opportunities to pursue will be examined. During the whole day, makers of various TV and radio programs have teamed up with open data developers and coders and will compete for prizes.

In the past few weeks various TV and radiomakers have welcomed developers in their teams and posted queries and questions to our community. Parallel Open State together with stakeholders in the public broadcasting system have unlocked various datasets. The day will be opened with a column by technoviking Alexander Klöpping.
